Millie’s Bookshelf has always operated with a deep respect for the lived experiences of displaced people, past and present. We feel it is our duty to be informed about the people we serve - integrating their perspectives, voices, and wishes into each of our programs. One of the ways we adhere to this principle is through a long reading list that grounds our work in the everyday realities of refugees. And now, we want you to join us on this literary journey.
Millie’s Book Club was conceptualized as a fellowship where like-minded individuals can dive deep into our mission by learning about displacement. Through bi-monthly book recommendations and online video-based group discussions, we aim to create a welcoming space for conversations to inspire action. MBC is a place for everyone. Whether you are into biographies, novels, memoirs, historical fiction, or even comic books, the Millie’s team of book-reviewers will tug at your heartstrings with an array of compelling stories.
We hope you will join us and become a part of our booklover community. Our subscriptions go hand-in-hand with a $5 donation per month. This way, you can get great book recommendations AND help fund our refugee literacy programs around the world!
Besides, what is a humanitarian literacy organization without a book club?
