FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
June 26, 2019, San Diego, CA, USA: Millie’s Bookshelf is thrilled to announce that its founder and Executive Director, Katie Howland, is a finalist for San Diego Magazine’s Nonprofit Visionary award. Honoring women who have had an extraordinary impact on the lives of others, the Nonprofit Visionary award exemplifies outstanding work among the region’s female leaders in the nonprofit sector.
Each year, this award recognizes outstanding service and significant contributions in the nonprofit space. All award finalists will be featured in the September issue of the magazine and recognized at the 2019 Celebrating Women Awards, presented by Wells Fargo.
“I'm incredibly honored to be a finalist for this year's Nonprofit Visionary award,” said Katie Howland. “I'm also acutely aware that nobody achieves anything alone; to that end, I'd like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to my team who works tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure that every child fleeing war and persecution has access to a good book.”
The Celebrating Women Awards will take place on September 24 at The New Children’s Museum and will include opportunities for networking as well as live entertainment, pop-up shops, and a keynote speaker. We look forward to honoring Katie for her unbridled passion, ceaseless dedication, and tireless efforts to bring positive change to displaced children all over the world - one book at a time.
